Jessie Mejias

Prayer Counselor and Teacher

Rev. Jessie Mejias, M.A., is the Founder and President of Sunodía Prayer Counseling. She is a prayer counselor, facilitator and teacher.

Jessie is an ordained non-denominational Christian minister. Since 2001, she has worked as a well-known counselor and teacher in Virginia. Jessie’s passion and gifts are to bring healing to the body of Christ. She has a long-standing reputation as a strong and godly woman with discernment in hearing from God through words, dreams and visions. She draws on her own experience of God’s ability to heal and restore as she walks with many through their life struggles and helps them find the way to wholeness.

In 1991, she was called by God to partner with Him in counseling and helping to heal the brokenhearted and to set the captives free. Heeding the call, Jessie enrolled at Regent University in 1999, and earned a Masters Degree in Human Services Counseling. It was there that she was introduced to inner healing prayer ministry, which, along with the training she had already received in deliverance and spiritual warfare, equipped her to begin to walk out the ministry that God had set before her.
In 2001, she was invited to become the Director of Counseling at Calvary Gospel Church in Arlington, Virginia. Besides doing one-on-one prayer ministry, she began training others to integrate good counseling skills with inner healing prayer. She organized and hosted seminars for the community in order to spread the good news that God loves His children, that He speaks to them in many different ways and that He wants to heal their wounds and set them on the path of true freedom.
In July of 2009, Jessie received a Special Ministry License from International Ministerial Fellowship and started her own ministry. In March of 2010, Jessie published her first book, Leaving Home—Finding Home©, the story of her journey from shame to sonship through journaling. In October of 2010, Jessie incorporated Finding Home Institute (“FHI”– the ministry’s original name) as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Originally established in Alexandria, Virginia, FHI moved its headquarters to Richmond, Virginia in 2011. In 2017, FHI began doing business as Sunodía Prayer Counseling. Jessie resides in Richmond, Virginia, with her husband, Alex, They have two children and five grandchildren.
